I wanted salon nails without the salon.

I love having my nails done. I just never loved how much time, money and effort went into keeping them that way. So I started looking for another way.

Engineer turned nail obsessive.

I'm Celine, the founder of Cellies. I studied engineering at TU Delft, but I've also always loved design, beauty and making things better.

Cellies started because I wanted something pretty simple: beautiful nails that actually fit into real life.

Something I could do myself, without spending hours at a salon or trying to perfectly paint gel with my non-dominant hand.

What started as an idea turned into years of testing, changing tiny details and trying again.

How it started

I started testing gel nail stickers in 2020.

And I definitely didn't get them right immediately.

I tested different materials, finishes, adhesives and designs. Some versions looked good but didn't last. Others lasted, but didn't look natural enough.

So I kept going.

My engineering background probably didn't help with knowing when to stop. I notice tiny details and once I know something can be better, I want to figure out why.

Years of testing and refining eventually became Cellies: semi-cured gel nail stickers made with real gel that are flexible when you apply them and harden under a UV/LED nail lamp.

The goal was never to make another complicated at-home nail system. It was to make beautiful nails genuinely easier.

They have to look good

Not "good for stickers." I wanted nails that look polished, glossy and like you actually spent time on them.

They have to be easy

No painting multiple coats. No trying to create nail art with your non-dominant hand. Apply, file and cure.

They have to last

Pretty nails aren't very useful if they chip the next day. Application, adhesion and finish were all part of the testing.

The designs have to feel wearable

I love nail art, but I want to actually wear it. That's why Cellies focuses on colours and designs that feel modern, polished and easy to combine.

Removal matters too

A manicure isn't only about how it looks on day one. I wanted the whole routine, including removal, to be simple.

It should fit into real life

Cellies are for the moment when you have ten minutes at home and still want your nails to look put together.
